Our Website Translation Services

Do you provide a continuous service for businesses that need periodical translations?

Yes, we do. In fact, we favor long-term relationships with clients.

For now, you may start with a simple order, and after that, if both sides are happy, we can allocate time to your company in our agenda according to your needs.

Also, to speed things up with regular clients, we like to work on a credits system.

Say you need about 2,000 words translated on a monthly basis. You can buy 10,000 word credits. When you need a new translation, we start work immediately, and when we have completed the job we let you know the number of credits left in your account. This is fast and convenient for both parties. And, of course, we always give preference to regular credit clients over new clients.

What are your payment terms? Do you make refunds?

Clients pay in advance. If requested, we issue refunds of any work that we have not yet started, and partial refunds of work we have partially made. For instance, if you ask for a refund when we have done 40% of the job, we will issue a refund for the remaining 60%, and send you the work done.

If you have a credits balance, and your company does not need any more translations, we will refund you the value of the unused credits. 

What’s the difference between your three services: Post-Editing, Human Translation and Transcreation?

This question is paramount, so we have written a whole article to answer it. 

Our Post-editing service consists in the revision of a machine-generated translation, to not only make it acceptable, but achieve a high degree of quality. At SEO Translations, post-editing is done by a professional translator that checks the machine output against the source text, and corrects errors of meaning, coherence, agreement, consistency, and composition.

Post-editing is cheaper because less time is devoted to it, but it can be less accurate-i.e. sometimes, a better alternative could be used. You can use our Post-editing service for

For post-editing to be the preferred option/optimal _, corrections have to take less time than doing the translation from scratch. This means the source text needs to be well written, with no ambiguities, no specialized terminology (unless a glossary is fed to the machine)

In a SEO translation, how do you select the target keywords?

As a default rule, in the Spanish market, we tend to target more generic and high volume keywords, because the level of competition is lower than in the US or the UK. But the client decides. You also can provide us with a list of keywords (in that case, you don’t need to buy the SEO add-on).

If you don’t give us any special instructions, we will use our own priority matrix that determines the ideal keyword for a page (one that you can compete for, and is profitable to your business) based on a combination of metrics:

  • your domain authority compared to your main competitors’,
  • the monthly search volume,
  • the keyword difficulty score,
  • how profitable it is expected to be based on cost-per-click,
  • and search intent verification to ensure keywords match content/relevancy.

Additionally, we gather a list of co-ocurring terms among the top 10 ranking pages for the target keyword and enrich the translation with them. This helps Google figure out what your page is about and also helps you rank for many more terms.

We created this website so we could focus on what we enjoy the most and are better at, so we are happy to say the answer is no.

How does image translation work?

We will translate the text of the images and you’ll be responsible for creating the new image. We will also translate Alt tags and file names (good for SEO), and every word will be charged as one regular word. 

Do you translate into English?

No, we don’t. We only translate English into Spanish and Catalan, the languages we learnt from our mothers.

Do you provide free translation tests?

No, we don’t. Instead, we invite you to commission a paid short translation. 

How do you handle privacy?

By default, we treat every translation job as confidential. If you are interested, we can sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Since we only translate client-facing materials, we don’t need to collect a lot of personal information-usually, just name and email.

General Translation Questions

We don’t have the resources to get our entire website professionally translated. What is your advice?

If your website is like most, it concentrates a majority of visits in a small number of pages. The 20/80 rule applies here. So go to your analytics program and make a list of your top pages, and then start by commissioning the translation of those pages.

If your site is an e-commerce retail store, make sure to professionaly translate important elements such as menus and categories, calls-to-action, etc, and also pages like the returns policy, FAQ, and order forms.

When your global sales shoot up, translate every single page. In the meantime, simply use machine translations- with light post-editing, if possible-for the low traffic pages.

If I appoint SEO Translations.net for Spanish, I still will need translators for French, German and Italian. Why are multiple language providers better than hiring an agency for everything?

Have you got any advanced tips about translation?

Sometimes a good translation is not what you need. Sometimes a translation must deviate somewhat from the source material in order to sound natural in the target language. A translation of marketing materials needs to have the same punch as the original text.
